Presidency University aims to ‘transform’ with new faculties

To enhance the quality of education, research, and student development, and to make a significant impact on Bangladesh’s competitive academic landscape, Presidency University has hired a number of talented faculty members.

The university is currently undergoing a “major transformation phase,” led by a group of dynamic, highly qualified, and top-performing faculty members, according to a press release.

Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Md Abdul Mannan Chowdhury stated that the university has successfully completed its two-decade journey. Currently, there are 3,000 students enrolled at Presidency University, with 2,500 pursuing undergraduate degrees and 500 engaged in postgraduate studies. The university boasts a team of over 155 academic staff members.

“We have appointed highly qualified teachers to elevate our standards of education, research, and overall student development,” Professor Chowdhury added.

The newly appointed faculty members include:

  1. Dr. Shahidul Islam Khan from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) as the Dean of the School of Engineering
  2. Dr. ASM Shihavuddin from Universitat De Girona, Spain, in the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering
  3. Saheeh Shafi, Md Anisur Rahman, and Jarin Tasnim Raisa from the University of Dhaka (DU) in the Department of English
  4. Sal Sabil Chowdhury and Md Deedarul Islam Bhuiyan from DU in the Department of Law and Justice
  5. Modhupom Choudhury from BUET in the Department of Civil Engineering
  6. Professor Abul Kalam from DU as the Dean of the Department of Business
  7. Dr. Mohammed Julfikar Ali from Rajshahi University (RU) as the Head of the Department of Business

In addition, Mohammad Minhazul Alam from BUET has been appointed to advance computer science education at Presidency University, and Md Mostafizur Rahman has been appointed as an Assistant Professor and Head of the Department of Civil Engineering.
